I LOOOOVE chocolate. I don’t mean I enjoy eating brown candy bars that taste like…sweet stuff…that come in little wrappers and are intended to be devoured in 2 bites. I mean I love chocolate that is worth pondering, discussing, and sharing. I evangelize and teach new people about chocolate. I have disappeared down the rabbit hole of the best chocolate in the world.
This is a project of enduring love, and I want to share the good stuff with the world. I may get a bit silly with melodrama and hyperbole, but I am 100% serious in being a fine chocolate snob. I, probably like you, was raised on fairly “normal” chocolate, and I’m snobby enough now to not eat any chocolate I consider unworthy of my time.
I started the Utah Cchocolate Society in April of 2010 to corral fellow geeks, and in the intervening 8 years (!!!), we have tasted chocolate bars from all over the world, made from beans from all over the tropics. The ChocSoc, as I call it, is just about the greatest organization in the world. We sit around and taste fancy chocolate – call it artisan, craft, fine, snooty, or what have you – and talk about our feelings. It doesn’t get much happier than that!
My goal with Chocolate Fascination is to spread the love of chocolate farther and wider than it has ever been! Chocolate producers, and the farmers of cacao (the key raw ingredient) want to have you taste the fruits of their labors. My goal is to introduce EVERYONE to fine chocolate, and hopefully grow this still-niche market into the thriving culture it is destined to become. Between blog posts, video tours and interviews, and podcasts, I aim to cover every inch of fine chocolate. I hope to offer as many of the bars we feature as possible, so you can taste along with me on this delectable journey!
